About the project.

The aim of the research is to study open source software supply chains. Open source software provides critical infrastructure for software projects, yet the widespread copying of code, the reliance on unverified components and involvement of potentially unqualified developers pose enormous risks that are not well understood.  The measurement of these supply chains requires collection curation, and analysis of massive datasets representing the evolution history of all open source projects and involves machine learning and big data techniques. This research will  lay the foundations needed on one hand,  to quantify the risks of software supply chains and on the other hand, to develop practices and tools to mitigate them.

Main research directions: Open Source Software Engineering, Mining Software Repositories, Software Supply Chains

The research will be conducted at the Institute of Data Science and Digital Technologies of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics,  Vilnius University.

Enquiries regarding this position should be addressed to dr. Remigijus Paulavičius by email .
